Transformative Agreements

Transformative agreements are contracts negotiated between institutions and publishers that transform the business model underlying scholarly publishing towards a fully open access model.

These agreements shift payment structures away from subscription-based reading and toward open access publishing.

They may be established with an individual library, a library system, or consortia such as the South African National Library and Information Consortium (SANLIC).
